Matt, you were totally unobtrusive, didn't use any cheesy cartoon gimmicks, didn't bother our guests, shot gorgeous footage and edited it beautifully. few months ago, my girlfriends and I were engaged in one of those
all-wedding discussions that always develops when young brides-to-be
and young newlyweds get together. After the subjects of flowers
and djs and invitations had been exhausted, my newest friend to
sport a diamond on her finger brought up videographers, and asked
the rest of us our thoughts on the matter. My only married friend
stunned me with her immediate reply that a wedding video isn't

to begin...I guess back in 1997, when we first met you at my brother

the weeks and months leading up to my wedding day, it seemed that
everyone I met had an opinion. “Nobody likes lamb.” “I hope you
serve lamb!” “That color flatters no one.” “You seated me with HER?”
“Too many bridesmaids.” “Too few bridesmaids.” But no matter their
opinions on menus or color schemes, everyone seemed to agree on
one piece of advice: they all said that the day would go by in a
flash, gone before I knew it, and that I’d be left with nothing
but happy memories.
And Matt, I was SO sure that they were wrong. After all, hadn’t
I spent the better part of a year planning every detail of the big
day? Didn’t I have the seating chart memorized, and a wedding binder
that would put Martha Stewart to shame? There was no way that any
of it would slip by unnoticed—I would be different than all the
other brides who had tried to advise me. I wouldn’t forget a minute
of it.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. At the end of the day, here’s what I remembered
clearly: waking up, eating breakfast, and saying goodbye to my guests
at midnight. Everything else was a blur. A happy blur, to be sure,
but really nothing more than a bunch of smiling faces and a few
tears. And, had I never met you, that would be the extent of it.
I would forever remember our wedding day as one of the happiest

For that reason, I can honestly say that your video is the best
gift that I have received as a new bride. Here are the gifts that
you gave me: the look on Rob’s face as my parents and I walked down
the aisle. My dad’s quickly-dried tear during our father-daughter
dance. The groomsmen lounging in their t-shirts 10 minutes before
photos were supposed to be taken. My ringbearer holding the ring
pillow upside down as he ran down the aisle. My grandmother, so
serene, as we said our vows. The toasts. The dances. The laughter.
Matt, you gave that all to me, and I don’t know how to begin to
thank you.
Your artistry, your patience, your professionalism and your graceful
charm are so very much appreciated. I feel so lucky that our paths
led us to each other and that you were able to play such an important
role in our wedding day. Thank you for holding my flowers, fluffing
my dress, (making sure that you took NO fat thigh shots!), smiling

good product.' End of story. However, I had to make an exception.
We were very reluctant to have a videographer at the wedding.
We had been to weddings where the videographer(s) had been intrusive
and interrupted the natural flow of events, making for more of
a photo op than a celebration in and of itself. We also interviewed
several videographers and watched samples of their work, which
always seemed 'schmaltzy' and overdone (we couldn't figure out
